Frequently Asked Questions

What is term life insurance?

Term life insurance provides death benefit protection for a limited number of years, from 5 to 20 years.

How much coverage do I need?

How much coverage you need is a personal decision. However, you should think about how much coverage your family may need should the unexpected happen, as well as how much you can afford to pay for coverage.

How much does life Insurance cost?

The cost of policy depends on many factors. First, get a quote, which will give you an idea of what coverage will cost. If you like the quote, you can complete an application and go through underwriting. After that, you’ll receive an offer with the exact price of the coverage, which you are free to accept or reject.

When does coverage begin?

Your coverage will start immediately after you accept our offer and make your first premium payment.

What does “no medical exams” mean?

No medical exams means that you won’t have to undergo a medical exam or provide blood or urine samples to qualify for coverage.

Instead, we use the information provided on your application and records obtained from sources that include, but are not limited to: your primary care physician, the Medical Information Bureau, prescription history records, medical billing records, and the division of motor vehicles in your state.

How does the Financial Hardship Feature work?

If you believe that you’re having a financial hardship, then you call our customer service department and let them know that you’re experiencing a financial hardship. We require no proof of financial hardship, but the representative may ask why you’re requesting it for tracking purposes.

Once approved, we’ll reduce your monthly premium to $1 a month for six months. The six months includes any due and unpaid monthly premiums.2

Please note that if you’re currently paying for your policy annually, your payment mode will be switched to monthly while making Financial Hardship payments.

How does the Life Events Feature work?

The Life Events Feature is enabled by the Additional Life Insurance Option rider.1 If you’ve had a life event (had a new baby, bought a new house, etc.) and would like more coverage, then call our customer service department. Tell the representative that you would like to increase your coverage. We require no proof of your life event, but the representative may ask why you’re requesting it for tracking purposes.

The representative will email a link to a page where you can request additional coverage up to double your current coverage amount, not to exceed $500,000. You will go through our underwriting process again, but you cannot be denied coverage based on your health status.
